Spot Removing Techniques for Clothing

Today, we will see some techniques to remove stain from clothing and to make it more specific, I will explain the whole matter in Bangla...(It is Applicable only for Silk, Wool, Cotton, Linen fabric).....

How to review a reference garment sample

How to review or study a reference garment sample

Once sample is approved by buyer, before the start of production, sample must be reviewed by an industrial engineer, quality team and production team to avoid silly mistakes. Following check lists will be helpful in doing proper review of a sample:-

  • Check fabric details, accessories, styling and garment construction.
  • Check garment detailing for process requirements, like printing or embroidery is needed or not. If needed is it before stitching or after stitching. Think about cutting whether block cutting is needed or not.
  • Go through the specs sheets and compare/match it with the sample for possible query on points of measurement. Note that buyer’s way of measuring certain specs varies and you should be aware of their established standards.
  • Wash care instruction
  • Identify and list down garment components or parts
  • List down main material, trims and accessories used
  • Specification of sewing threads (thickness and variation).
  • Turn down the garment and identify operation sequences, note if few operation can be started simultaneously.
  • In operation sequence also note seam types, stitch classes and accordingly think about machine type guides or attachments that would suitable for the operation.
  • Note down operations that looks difficult in sewing and may need attention for quality stitching.
  • Review the sewing allowances required or may be required by the various sewing methods.
  • Identify finishing processes and note with specification.

If you are not clear about some points note it down and query to buyer. Don’t assume anything on your own. Always keep approval and written record of requirements.

What is the difference between Lycra and Spandex

The difference between Lycra and Spandex!!

What is Lycra!!!

Lycra is a product of DuPont for Spandex fiber.

Lycra® is trademark and Brand name of DuPont Company.

Spandex is synonyms of elastane fiber.

Spandex or elastane specify properties of fiber (rubber like stretchable) those are used in skin tight clothes such as swimsuits, jeans, sports wears etc. There are other companies who also manufacture spandex fibers.

So, there is no technical difference in between Lycra and Spandex.
Both Lycra and Spandex are same.
Spandex is the Generic name of a fiber and Lycra is Spandex product of DuPont Company.

When you are specifically using Lycra® product (spandex fiber) for your clothing products, if you name it Lycra there is no issue. But when you use spandex fiber manufactured by other companies better to call it a spandex rather than Lycra.

The word ‘Spandex’ is only used in USA and Rest of the World use to say it ‘Elastane’.

What do the TC/TCX and TP/TPX suffixes mean

Today, let's discuss about TC/TCX and TP/TPX, what we do actually mean by these!!

Many of us in apparel industry know these terms, but some freshers might not know about these....

Let's see -

The suffix "TP" stands for "Textile Paper," and the suffix "TC" stands for "Textile Cotton.
Both are designators from the PANTONE TEXTILE Color System.
There are slight differences between the paper and fabric versions of the System.
However, for CAD applications, the differences should be minor.

A NOTE of CAUTION: When specifying your color choices to a mill or manufacturer, be sure to
specify and conduct all approvals from either the TC or TP version of PANTONE FASHION + HOME.
In the latest versions of
the PANTONE FASHION + HOME product line, the paper edition product
carries a suffix of
TPX = Textile Paper Edition
, extended range.
The cotton editions carry a suffix of
TCX = Textile, Cotton Edition
, extended range.
